When upgrading from a standard receiver to a Sky +, the LNB needs changing to this new one (included) and an
extra cable needs fitting. When replacing an existing Sky Plus, the LNB will not need replacing but having
a spare LNB in stock means that at some point in the future when the LNB fails, you will have a spare one.
One of the other LNB outputs could be used for an existing Digibox if required.
The Sky + has a built in hard drive and can record up to 80 hours of programming.
This is the reliable Pace TDS470N 160 Gb Sky Plus.
This is not an upgraded 40Gb unit. It comes direct from Pace with the 160Gb hard drive already fitted.
(The Pace web site quotes 160Gb but a large amount of the drive is used for the Sky operating system and
depending on the set up, the usable space, as stated also on the Pace web site, is between 80Gb and 160Gb.
The actual box quotes usable at 80Gb. Either way up to 50 hours is available.)
The record menus are an integral part of the electronic program guide and so the operation is extremely
simple. Much easier to use than a VCR. Please note that a Sky+ must be used with a Sky subscription if
the hard drive is to be used for recording. It cannot be used just for free to air channels or with
a “Freesat card” as the hard drive would not work. If upgrading or changing from an existing
box / card / subscription, Sky must activate the card to work with the new Sky+ or the hard drive
will not work. A phone call to Sky is all that is needed to do this.

ADVICE ON DISH SIZES IN SPAIN.

Dish sizes need to be quoted to receive every channel. Smaller dishes can be used and since
some channels are more powerful than others, the small dish will work on a percentage of
channels but not all of them. The BBC and the ITV are the weakest channels, and so unless
the dish is big enough to receive every channel, it will not be big enough to receive
the BBC and the ITV (although many other Sky channels could be received with smaller dishes)
In addition it is important to note that there are 2 beams aimed at Spain. The north and
the south beam. The BBC and the ITV are not on the south beam but many Sky channels are.
The south beam can be received anywhere in Spain on an 80cm dish. To find out which.
channels are on the south beam go to www.astra.lu where you will you can research
what each beam carries on the Astra satellite. The North beam carries every channel.
As far as the north beam is concerned, customer feedback over the last year has provided
the following information on dish size recommendations.
Costa Brava 1.0m. Madrid, 1.2m Southern Spain and Portugal 1.6m. Alicanti (weak spot) 2.4m dish
Close to Alicanti 1.8m dish.

Triax TD88 90cm dish with
Triax 20 degree Multi LNB kit.



Triax TD 88, 90cm dish with 4 narrow feed LNBs, Triax perfect fit rigid multi bracket, 4 way diseqc switch,
instructions. Unlike flexible difficult to set up, universal fit brackets, this is a dream to use as it is
well engineered and designed by Triax for their own TD dishes.
20 degree look angle means that on one dish, Astra 1 (28E), Astra 2 (19E) and Hotbird (13E)
can be received. With the larger 90cm dish, other combinations of up to 4 satellites are possible
Narrow feedhorn LNBs are used so that satellites that are only 3 degrees apart can be received.
To summarise, it is possible to receive from Astra 2 to the Hotbird on one fixed dish.

We have tested this ourselves. Using a Lacuna / Wolsey meter, a groundstand and Triax TD 78
(the TD 88 will provide more signal) with the Multi LNB kit.
They were set up it our testing area. It took 10 minutes to get prefect results from all 3 satellites including
setting up the stand and dish! (Testing was done with the Fortec star 5100 receiver) Location - Newcastle - UK
Another combination would be 23.5 degrees east, 28, 19 and 13 east. This works will on the 90cm dish.
With a small modification, 28E, 19E, 16E and 13E is also possible.

Notice that if the dish needs a large stand off (looking up or down street at right angles to wall)
use position of U pole in left hand picture above. For dishes pointing away from wall, dish can be

If the dish is pointing away from a wall. i.e. facing in the general south (ish) direction,
this mount is fine with larger dishes, the 80, 85 and even a 90cm. But since the maximum
stand-off is only about 30cm, a larger dish would hit the wall if turned east or west too far.
When a larger stand-off is required, (dish pointing up or down the street
rather than away from the wall,) use the 1D mount below.
