UHF Modulator





Many high definition receivers do not have a UHF modulator built into them (this is the Aerial in and out
connections on the back) The reason for this is that manufacturers do not consider UHF to be of sufficiently high
quality to justified inclusion in an HD receiver. However, many people do have a UHF distribution system in their
home so that they can view channels in many rooms. If the only outputs on a receiver are scart and HDMI it
is not possible to connect into the distribution system and “pipe” the satellite around the house.
This modulator solves this problem. You can scart the satellite signal into the modulator and feed the UHF output into the
distribution system. The frequency (channel) can be set so that it does not interfere with other
items (aerial, DVD etc.) that may also be on the system. This is a very useful product.

The new Freesat service on 28E.

The new Freesat boxes can be connected to a standard Sky Mini dish or any dish pointing at Astra 2 at 28E
although a standard 60cm dish does work better. Or the clear transparent 60cm dish
This service will include standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) programs.

Freesat is a new UK service and have a new dedicated electronic program guide (EPG) that is only suitable for
28E and like a Sky receiver, provides detailed channel listings.
The EPG details program listings in advance and is considerably more detailed than in free to air, or CI, SD and HD
standard receiver.

Freesat receivers are not really suitable for any other satellite than 28E. They only have auto scanning on 28.
That means every transponder would have to be scanned manually on every satellite. This could take a day to do
just one satellite.
Accessing new channels in the menus is not easy and requires a number of button pushes every time.

Standard free to air and CI type satellite receivers.
Standard receiver do work on all free to air channels.
There could be an issue with the "red button access" used on Freesat receivers and ITV may not work on some
standard receivers. There are no issues with getting all Freesat channels on the Technomate 6900
HD receiver.
Standard receivers are available in high definition and some are twin tuner PVRs (like a Sky plus or Sky HD).
They let you record one channel and watch another. Pause live footage etc.

At last there’s a real flat-plane antenna alternative to the black mesh dish. If you can’t have a normal dish
because of planning permission or they’re in a conservation area or they simply don’t like black mesh or other
dishes, the Selfsat H21D has arrived. This new antenna uses advanced folded wave-guide technology to give usable
performance in a discreet white flat package. (Not suitable for northern England or Scotland) It comes in three
versions: Single LNB, Twin LNB and Quad LNB. Wall mount is included. There’s even a range of camouflage stickers
to customize the appearance to the your own site. See the brick covered Selfsat in the left hand picture and
how much better it looks than the mini dish. Ideal for England but probably not so good in Northern England

5 bolt fixing. Various stand off distances and 2 pole lengths - 1m and 2m. All pole diameters are 50mm
The poles are galvanised. the stand off distance is from the wall is to the inside of the pole.
If the dish is larger than 1.0m use a heavy duty "above the gutter" wall mount from our
wall mounts & ground stands page or a ground stand if applicable.
