Sky Digital 4 way distribution amp. Powered

When the non-mains powered amp (above) is used, it takes the 9 volts from the Sky box to power itself
and the TV eye. When there are longer cable runs of over 15m, the voltage at the end
of the cable can drop to a point where the TV eye won't work. This is less likely to happen
if a powered amp is used as the power is being injected at the amp rather than further back down
the line at the Sky box. It should also be noted that if the cable run is long AFTER the amp
The 9V still might not be maintained at a high enough level at the TV eye with either amp. In that
situation, injecting power with a DC inserter (see above) at the TV eye may be needed.
To summarize, the powered type is less likely to need DC inserters if the cable runs are long.

High output professional 8 way powered amp.

This is a professional 8 way amp that provides a significant gain.
With cheaper amps the signal is amplified to make up for losses in the splitting process
but the resultant gain may only be "1" and so little real amplification takes place.
The Labgear professional amp is different. It provides enough gain for long cable runs
in larger houses so that the picture at the end of the long cable is still very good.
Even if only a 2 way, 4 way or 6 way amp is needed, if the cable runs are long it
would be advisable to use this unit. A long cable run would be 25+ metres.
We have fully tested this unit in a large house and when the SLX 8 way unit above
produced a grainy poor picture in two distant rooms, the Labgear unit, once
substituted in, provided a perfect picture.
(Please note that on long cable runs, the 9 V for the TV eye to work, may still
need to be re-injected using a DC inserter - see below)

Sky Bypass Unit



This allows a TV eye to be used with
an existing distribution amplifier.
A normal distribution amp does not let the 9 volts through that the TV eye needs
However with the bypass unit fitted, the 9 volts for the TV eye bypasses
the amp so that remote control commands from another room get through.
1 bypass unit is required for each output. (i.e. each room)
